MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (MACS) RETURNS TO PPMS FOR THE SILVER ANNIVERSARY, "NICK GARIN MEMORIAL" ON AUGUST 2

IMPERIAL, PA - After years of hard work, Nick Garin realized a dream in 1979, twenty-five years ago, when he opened what is now known as Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. On Saturday, August 2, the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) invades Dirt's Monster Half Mile for the annual "Nick Garin Memorial", 40 lap, Silver Anniversary event paying $4,000 to win. This race, in honor of Nick, recognizes him as the founder and builder of the facility, a jumbo 1/2 mile measuring 100 feet wide all the way around with high-speed sweeping turns providing the opportunity for some of the best side-by-side action in the region.

The previous three MACS winners of the "Nick Garin Memorial" include Weston WV's Tim Hitt in 2002, Castle Shannon's Doug Crawford in 2001, and St. Clairsville OH's Mark Banal in 2000. In 1999, Greensburg's Davey Johnson swept both legs of the Nick Garin Memorial, when it was presented as Late Model Twin 20 lap feature events.

This year's presentation of the Silver Anniversary "Nick Garin Memorial" will include late model time trials, heats, dash, B-Main(s), and the MACS 40-lap A-Main.
