PITTSBURGH, PA (June 1, 2006) - Mother Nature is giving us a preview of some sizzling hot weather, now get ready to mark your calendar for some red hot, “knock your top off” roofless racing action on Dirt’s Monster Half Mile as “Topless Tuesday” is fast approaching. Make plans to attend the first of two of these don't miss special events when the roofs come off Tuesday evening, June 20, at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Bring your stop watch along, and pick out your favorite seat for a bird's eye view of the Late Model and Crate Late Model drivers wheeling around the banked, lightning fast track without their roofs. The winner of the 35-lap Late Model feature event will pocket $2000 for his efforts. The distance for the Advance Auto Parts Crate Late Models will be 20 laps. A complete racing program for the Lincoln Welder E-Modifieds, WBGN-TV Pure Stocks, Amateur Stocks, and the Young Gun Teen Division is also on the card with the topless Late Models and Crate Late Models. Gates open at 5pm, and race time for "Topless Tuesday" is 7pm. If inclement weather interferes with Tuesday’s event, the tops will come back off the following night, Wednesday, June 21 for the make up date. The second roofless event is on tap for Tuesday, July 25 with a rain date of Wednesday, July 26.
In addition to the Tuesday special events, there are two exciting BONUS Weekends planned for the Speedway. The first doubleheader weekend is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday July 8 and July 9. Saturday’s program will serve as a tune-up for SUNDAY’s Late Model Penn National 40, a 40-lap $4000 to win special! Yet another bonus for race fans will be the offering of free home smoke detectors to the first 500 fans on Sunday showing a ticket stub from Saturday’s event. The second BONUS weekend is slated for Saturday, August 12 and SUNDAY, August 13 when the Late Models will be competing in the Annual Garin Memorial, a 40-lap $4000 to win event! Both bonus weekends include all other racing divisions on Sundays as well as the tune-up Saturday programs.
For the 18th consecutive year, the racing season will conclude at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway with the running of the Pittsburgher 100. This year’s 100-lap feature event will pay the winner $18,000 and is sanctioned by the “World of Outlaws”.
