Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway

No Racing At PPMS This Week, Red Miley Rumble Next Week

There will be no racing this Saturday at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, as it is a scheduled week off at the speedway.

Racing will return on Saturday, August 26 with the running of the 11th Annual Red Miley Rumble for the Diehl Automotive Super Late Models, with the 35 lap main event paying $3553 to the winner.  It will be the third and final race for the Diehl Automotive Super Series, as the race and the mini-series determines provisional starting positions for the season ending Pittsburgher 100.

The format for the event will be time trials, with heat races lined up straight up from the time trial results.  The top finishers will compete in a dash event, and how the drivers finish in the dash will determine the starting lineup for the feature.  The remaining heat race finishers will be lined up straight up by their heat race finish.

Previous winners of the Red Miley Rumble include Josh Richards, who was the inaugural winner in 2007.  Steve Baker won the event in 2008, with Bart Hartman winning in 2009.  Richards is the only two time winner of the event, adding a second score in 2010.  The 2011 winner was Davey Johnson, with Jared Miley winning in 2012.  Gregg Satterlee won the event in 2013, as John Mollick took the victory in 2014.  Keith Barbara won the 2015 event, and Michael Norris is the defending event champion.

Alex Ferree leads the Diehl Automotive Super Series points by three over Keith Barbara and Jared Miley, who are tied for second, with Jon Hodgkiss and Colton Flinner trailing.  Hodgkiss is the season point leader over Matt Dobnak, Chris Lander, John Flinner, and Tony Musolino.  Florida driver Mark Whitener is planning on making the trip to race in the Rumble.

Also on the August 26 card will be weekly point racing for the Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Models, Sunoco Sportsman, Super6 Late Models, Miley Truck Rental Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, and CruiseAmerica Open Fours.

The 2017 fuels incentive continues to race on at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.  Sponsored by Brian Bazell of Bazell Race Fuels, the fuel incentive program is open to each week to any race team in the RUSH Late Models and Sunoco Sportsman division.  To be entered, teams must purchase at least five gallons of fuel at the track to be eligible, plus carry a Sunoco decal.  The highest finishing car that is entered and eligible will earn five gallons of the fuel that they purchased.  Winners for last Saturday’s racing program were John Mollick in the RUSH Late Models and Todd Weldon in the Sunoco Sportsman.

For all racing programs, the gates open at 5:00 PM, with warm-ups at 6:00 PM and racing at 7:00 PM.  Follow us on Facebook at @PAMotorSpeedway or on Twitter at @PAMotorSpeedway for timely information updates.  The Twitter account is used extensively on race nights for live updates.  Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway is located west of the city of Pittsburgh, just south of the Noblestown exit of U.S. Route 22, or 170 Kelso Road in Imperial, PA, for GPS purposes.  The track phone is 412-279-RACE.  For complete information including ticket pricing information, please visit the track website at www.ppms.com .
