Cisney Earns First Sprint Car Win Since 2014 During First-Ever Race at Lernerville

Inside Line Promotions – IMPERIAL, Pa. (May 24, 2017) – Dylan Cisney took advantage of a rare weekend off at his home track in Central Pennsylvania by heading west.

“Since Port Royal Speedway was off because the World of Outlaws were at Williams Grove we decided to get some laps at two new tracks,” he said. “We’re planning on racing in Pittsburgh at the end of July with the All Stars. We decided to add Lernerville to make a weekend out of it.”

The trip paid off as Cisney was victorious during his first career race at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., on Friday before he posted a fifth-place result during his debut at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday. The win was Cisney’s first career away from his home track and his first overall since the summer of 2014.

“I think it was a big sigh of relief to get that win out of the way,” he said. “We’ve had close finishes where we’ve been right there and unable to seal the deal. It shows our car isn’t that far off. We just need a little luck and the right circumstances to get into Victory Lane.”

A fast car and the right circumstances put Cisney in contention from the start of Friday’s show, which began with a heat race win after he lined up on the outside of the front row. That advanced him into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 4 to start the 25-lap main event on the outside of the second row.

“We battled the first two or three laps for third,” he said. “Then we got into second and I was running there for a while. Sye (Lynch) was running the top and I was trying to work the bottom. We had a couple of restarts and he’d take off well. There was a red flag on Lap 11. I figured I needed a better restart. I got the restart I needed that put me close enough to do a slide job on him in turns one and two. He came back on me the next two or three laps and slid me. Once I got around him for good I went to the top and rolled around there the second half of the race.”

The victory was Cisney’s third career in a 410ci winged sprint car.

Last weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Cisney qualified fourth quickest in his group before advancing from fourth to third place in a heat race. He ended the night with a fifth-place result in the main event, which marked his fourth top five of the season.

“We had decent speed, but couldn’t find the right balance on the car,” he said. “Looking back on it we know what we should have done to be better. We got laps in and accomplished what we set out to do.”

Cisney will take the momentum from the win and two top fives into a marquee doubleheader this Saturday and Sunday at Port Royal Speedway, which hosts the annual Weikert Memorial.

“It’d be nice to park it in Victory Lane at least one of the two nights,” he said. “We’re in a tight points battle like we’ve been the last couple of years. We have to be patiently aggressive. We have to race hard for the win, but also be smart and keep the thing in one piece.”

Cisney enters this weekend ranked second in the championship standings – only 50 points out of the lead – thanks to two top fives and five top 10s in seven races this season at Port Royal Speedway.

“I feel like we’ve been good since the first week of the year,” he said. “We’ve had good momentum. We’re making the right adjustments to stay on top of the car. We need what we had Friday night to happen, which is everything to fall in place, hit the right adjustments, pull the right numbers and hopefully it will come together.”

Also of note, Cisney will be interviewed live from the track on the popular Winged Nation show this Saturday at approximately 5:10 p.m. Tune in to http://www.mrn.com/MRN-Radio/Shows/Winged-Nation.aspx to listen live.
