mother nature has her way with the 8th annual ed laboon memorial

For immediate release

Imperial, PA

It was a beautiful evening for racing with the 8th Annual Ed Laboon Memorial in town for the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stocks. Mother Nature would eventually take over, forcing track officials to postpone the remainder of the evening. Before the rain took over, PPMS would see qualifying, nine heat races, two b-mains, a six-lap dash, three feature events, and the start of the 8th Annual Ed Laboon Memorial a-main feature. John Mollick (60M), from Toronto, Ohio, would pick up his first win of the season in the Diehl Automotive RUSH Late Model Dirt Series 20-lap feature event. Andy Garlinger (R88), from Hopedale, Ohio, would pick up his third win of the season in the Four Cylinder feature, while Susie Rudolph (55), from Steubenville, Ohio, would bring home her second win of the season in the Young Guns six-lap feature event. The Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stocks would see a field of 43 cars with only 28 making the main event. Chris Schneider (55), from Lower Burrell, would set the fast-time with a time of 20.548. Daryl Charlier (114), from Midway, would win the six-lap dash, ensuring him the pole position for the 8th Annual Ed Laboon Memorial 30-lap feature event, but Mother Nature had other plans.

The 8th Annual Ed Laboon Memorial 30-lap feature event would see a field of 28 cars with Charlier (114) on the pole. To his outside and starting in second was Jackson Humanic (17), from Titusville. Making up the second row was Schneider(55) starting in third and Bobby Whitling (7W), from Franklin, starting in fourth. Todd Weldon (55), from Monongahela, would start in fifth and two-time winner Rusty Martz (16M), from Brookville, would start in sixth, rounding out the top three rows. When the green flag dropped, Charlier (114), Humanic (17), and Schneider (55) would go three-wide into turn one with Schneider (55) coming out on top with Charlier (114) in second and Humanic (17) in third, Martz (16M) in fourth, and Weldon (45) in fifth. The event’s first caution would come on lap three for debris in turn two. Schneider (55) would lead the restart with Charlier (114) in second, Humanic (17) in third, Martz (16M) in fourth, and Weldon (45) in fifth. Before the green flag could wave, Mother Nature flexed her muscles and track officials were forced to cancel the remainder of the evening. The makeup date for the 8th Annual Ed Laboon Memorial and Non-Qualifiers race will be Saturday, August 17, 2019. Heat race winners were Schneider (55), Whitling (7W), Charlier (114), Weldon (45), and Humanic (17). B-main winners were Noah Brunell (31), and Nick Kocuba (10). Charlier (114) also won the dash.

In the Diehl Automotive RUSH Late Model Dirt Series 20-lap feature event, Zachary Kane (10), from Washington, would start on the pole. To his outside and starting in second was Mollick (60M). The second row consisted of, Nico Dabecco (F1), from Bethel Park, in third, and Ron Hall (01), from Hookstown, in fourth. When the green flag dropped, Mollick (60M would take an early lead over the fourteen-car field. Mollick (60M) continued to lead on lap three while twelfth-starting Ben Policz (14B), from Rices Landing, had already made it up to third place. Mollick (60M) was already contending with lapped-traffic by lap eight with Policz (14B) in second, Dabecco (F1) in third, Christian Schneider (1ST), from Pittsburgh, in fourth, and thirteenth-starting Scott Gunn (14G), from McDonald, in fifth. Mollick (60M) continued to lead on lap 12 when Dabecco (F1) would pass Policz (14B) for second place but eventually, Policz (14B) would retake the second spot with Dabecco (F1) falling back to fourth. The night belonged to Mollick (60M) though as he led all 20 laps of the event, en route to his first PPMS win of the season. He was followed to the line by Policz (14B) in second, Schneider (1ST) in third, Dabecco (F1) in fourth, Gunn (14G) in fifth, Justin Lamb (93X) in sixth, Kane (10) in seventh, Bobby Springer (42S) in eighth, Josh Stoica (22J) in ninth, and Tony Musolino (3JX) would round out the top 10. Heat race winners were Mollick (60M) and Policz (14B).

In the Four Cylinder six-lap feature, John Gill (19G), from Burgettstown, would start on the pole. To his outside and starting in second was Garlinger (R88). Jason Romine (71) would start in third, while Craig Rudolph (5R), from Steubenville, Ohio would start in fourth, and rookie driver Tanya Charlier (21), from Midway, would complete the five-car field. When the green flag waved, Garlinger (R88) would take the lead on lap one. Garlinger (R88) was still leading on lap two with Gill (19G) in second, Rudolph (5R) in third, Romine (71) in fourth, and T. Charlier (21) in fifth. Garlinger (R88) would begin to lap the five-car field on lap four and he wouldn’t look back, picking up his third win of the season. Following him to the line was Rudolph (5R) in second, Gill (19G) in third, Romine (71) in fourth, and T. Charlier (21) in fifth. The Four Cylinders did not run a heat race.

Susie Rudolph (55) would start on the pole in the six-lap Young Guns feature event. Starting in second was Kyle Janus (88), from Coraopolis. Tony Magill (05), from Jefferson Hills, would start in third and Brendan Miskevics (44B) would start in fourth. When the green flag dropped, Rudolph (55) would keep the lead and she would begin to pull away from the field, while Janus (88) would follow her to second. T. Magill (05) was forced to enter the pits on lap two with an unknown issue, leaving only three cars remaining in the event. Rudolph (55) would dominate the event, leading all six laps, en route to her second Young Guns victory of the season. She was followed by Miskevics (44B) in second, Janus (88) in third, and T. Magill (05) in fourth. The Young Guns did not run a heat race.
