Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway

double money night for the hobby stocks and four cylinders a success at ppms

For immediate release,

Imperial, PA

Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile would see 10 heat races and 8 feature events during a steamy Saturday night. The program would start with two makeup features from 7.18.2020 for the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stocks and the Open Four-Cylinders. Tyler Fox (39F), from Pittsburgh, would take the win for the Hobby Stock makeup feature, and Phillip Bubeck (2L), from Washington, would bring home another win for the Four Cylinders. Defending RUSH Late Model Dirt Series champion, Ben Policz (14B), from Rices Landing, picked up his first win of the season in the 20-lap feature, while Chas Wolbert (C3), from Howland, Ohio, took advantage of a late-race restart to steal another win in the RUSH Sportsman Modified feature event. Dave McManus (114), from Elizabeth, would also take advantage of a late-race restart and take the win in the PPMS Pro Stock 15-lap feature event, while Stephen Shelpman (17S), from Pleasant Hills, snagged another win in the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stock feature. Bill Tennant (2), from Colliers, West Virginia, would grab the win for the Four Cylinders, and Noah Bubeck (2L), from Washington, continued to dominate in the Young Guns division, picking up another win.

In the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stock makeup feature, Karlee Kovacs (221K), from Carnegie, would start on the pole and lead the field to the green flag. Kovacs (221K) would lead the field on lap one with Andrew Sutton (16A), from Monaca, in second, and John Cain (06), from North Versalles, in third. Kovacs (221K) lead wouldn't last long as S. Shelpman (17S) would steal the lead on the next lap as the field entered turn one. A caution would slow the pace on lap four and S.Shelpman (17S) would lead the restart with Kovacs (221K) in second, Cain (06) in third, Fox (39F) in fourth, and Adam Ferree (29), from Jefferson Hills, in fifth. S. Shelpman (17S) would retain the lead when the green flag dropped, and by lap five, Fox (39F) was in second, Ferree (29) in third, Kovacs (221K) in fourth, and Cain (06) fifth. S. Shelpman (17S) would have a half of a straightaway lead by lap six, and he would enter lapped-traffic by lap eight, but Fox (39F) was beginning to track him down. As the field came to the white flag, Fox (39F) would pass S. Shelpman (17S) coming off of turn four to take the lead. Fox (39F) would lead the remaining lap picking up his first PPMS win of the season. He was followed to the line by S. Shelpman (17S) in second, Ferree (29) in third, Kovacs (221K) in fourth, Cain (06) in fifth, Kayla McManus (00K) in sixth, Matt Bernard (15B) in seventh, Robert Betz (22) in eighth, Tom Anton (64) in ninth, and Ben Anton (13) in tenth. The heat race winners from 7.18.20 were Cody Koteles (1K) and S. Shelpman (17S).

11 Four Cylinders would start the makeup feature from last week. B. Tennant (2) would start on the pole with P. Bubeck (2) to his outside and starting in second. Andy Garlinger (R88), from Hopedale, Ohio, would start in third, and Jay Swager Jr. (13J) would start in fourth. As soon as the green flag came out, the field was under caution for a car on the back-chute. A complete restart would ensue and P. Bubeck would take the early lead. Garlinger (R88) was forced to enter the pits early on when his car began to smoke and Swager Jr. (13J) was black-flagged on lap six when his left rear wheel was about to fall off. P. Bubeck (2L) would continue to lead the field with B. Tennant (2) right behind him. P. Bubeck (2) would dominate the event and lead all 10 laps, picking up another PPMS Four Cylinder win. Following him to the line was B. Tennant (2) in second, John Gill (19G) in third, Kyle Janas (88) in fourth, Susie Rudolph (55) in fifth, Tanya Charlier (21) in sixth, Eric Reynolds (53) in seventh, Swager Jr. (13J) in eighth, Garlinger (R88) in ninth, Chad Brandt (516) in tenth, and April Tennant (95) would round out the field in eleventh. The heat race winners from 7.18.2020 were P. Bubeck (2L) and B. Tennant (2).

In the RUSH Late Model Dirt Series 20-lap feature, Christian Schneider (1ST), from Warren, Ohio, would start on the pole, while Ryan Frazee (11F), from Addison, would start to his outside in second place. Tony White (27T), from Hopewell, would start in third, and Mike Duritsky (90J), from Masontown, would start in fourth. When the green flag waved, Frazee (11F) would take the early lead over the field and would continue to lead through lap five with Schneider (1ST) in second, Jake Gunn (14G) in third, Policz (14B) in fourth, and White (27T) in fifth. The event’s first caution would come on lap six. Frazee (11F) would lead the restart with Schneider (1ST) in second, Policz (14B) in third, Gunn (14G) in fourth, and John Mollick (60M) in fifth. White (27T) would enter the pits under the caution with a right-rear flat tire. With the help of surrounding race teams, White (27T) would make it back onto the track to tag the field before the green. When the field returned to green flag conditions, track officials called a no-start for the 10S of Joe Martin who was docked to the rear of the field for passing before the cone. The field would line up for another try at the restart and again, track officials called a no-start. The third time's a charm and the field would finally return to green-flag conditions. Despite Frazee (11F) and Schneider (1ST) having great restarts, Policz (14B) would steal the lead on the restart. At the halfway point, Policz (14B) would continue to lead the field with Schneider (1ST) in second, Mollick (60M) in third, twentieth-starting Tommy Schirnhofer (8S) in fourth, and Duritsky (90J) in fifth. Policz (14B) would begin to contend with lapped traffic on lap 12 and by lap 19 he would have a whole straightaway lead over the field. With one lap to go, another caution would slow the pace and a two-lap shootout would ensue. Policz (14B) would choose the inside on the restart with Mollick (60M) to his outside in second. When the green flag dropped, Policz (14B) would keep the lead and lead the remaining two laps of the event, picking up his first PPMS win of the season. He was followed by Mollick (60M) in second, Schirnhofer (8S) in third, Schneider (1ST) in fourth, Duritsky (90J) in fifth, J. Gunn (14G) in sixth, Martin (10S) in seventh, Daryl Charlier (64K) in eighth, Zach Kane (10) in ninth, and White (27T) rounded out the top 10. The heat race winners were Policz (14B), J. Gunn (14G), and Duritsky (90J).

The RUSH Sportsman Modified 15-lap feature would start seven cars. Garrett Krummert (10S), from Ellwood City, would start on the pole with Ayden Cipriano (5C), from Hermitage, would start to his outside in second place. Jacob Wolf (7) would start in third, Kole Holden (2), from Tiona would start in fourth, Chelsie Kriegisch (10), from Ellwood City, would start in fifth, Tony Tatgenhorst (63T), from Columbiana, Ohio, would start in sixth, and Chas Wolbert (C3) would round out the seven-car field. When the green flag waved, Krummert (10S) would keep the early lead. Krummert (10S) would continue to lead on lap two with Cipriano (5C) in second, Wolf (7) in third, Tatgenhorst (63T) in fourth, and Wolbert (C3) in fifth. Krummert (10S) continued to pad his lead over the field through lap six, and by lap seven, he had a full straightaway lead. Krummert (10S), Tatgenhorst (63T), and Wolbert (C3) were running one, two, and three on lap eight and it appeared that Krummert (10S) was going to run away with the win. But, with two laps to go in the event, the caution would come out for Holden (2). Krummert (10S) would lead the field on the restart and when the green flag dropped, Krummert (10S) and Wolbert (C3) would do battle for the lead with Wolbert (C3) coming out on top and stealing the win from Krummert (10S). The was Wolbert’s (C3) fourth win in a row at PPMS. Following him to the line was Krummert (10S) in second, Tatgenhorst (63T) in third, Cipriano (5C) in fourth, Kriegisch (10) in fifth, Wolf (7) in sixth, and Holden (2) in seventh. The heat race winner was Krummert (10S).

In the PPMS Pro Stock 15-lap feature, Jake Simmons (69X), from Beaver Falls, would start on the pole, while Jordan Perkins (13J), from Sharpsville, would start to his outside in second. Dave McManus (114) would start in third, and Ryan Moyer (13X), from Portersville, would start in fourth. When the field came under green-flag conditions, Simmons (69X) would keep the early lead with McManus (114) in second, and Moyer (13X) in third. Simmons (69X) would continue to lead through lap four, and on lap five, Moyer (13X) would take over the lead. Lap nine had Moyer (13X) still leading, McManus (114) in second, and Simmons (69X) in third. Moyer (13X) was on a rail but with 2 laps to go, the caution would come out for Perkins (13J) whose car would catch on fire on the front straight as it was dumping oil onto the track. The fire would go out on its own and the PPMS Super Snuffers would clean up the oil. On the restart, Moyer (13X) would choose the inside with McManus (114) to his outside in second. When the green flag dropped for the final time in the event, McManus (114) would steal the lead and take the win. He was followed by Moyer (13X) in second, Nick Kocuba (10) in third, J. Simmons (69X) in fourth, Chase Lambert (22JR) in fifth, Eric Piotrowski (7) in sixth, Bill Slade (A22) in seventh, Perkins (13J) in eighth, and Bryan Wagner (56) would complete the nine-car field. The heat race winner was Perkins (13J).

In the Keystone Coach Works Hobby Stock “double money’ 20-lap feature, Tony Magill (5), from Jefferson Hills, would start on the pole. S. Shelpman (17S) would start in second, Jon Koteles (2K), from Stockdale, would start in third, Frank Magill (05), from Jefferson Hills, would start in fourth, Matt Bernard (15B), from Oakdale, would start in fifth, and Ferree (29) would start in sixth. S. Shlepman (17S) would take the early lead when the green flag dropped but the caution was already out on lap one when a car spun in turn three. S. Shelpman (17S) would lead the restart, with F. Magill (05) in second, Ferree (29) in third, Kayla McManus (00K) in fourth, and Fox (39F) in fifth. S. Shelpman (17S) continued to lead at the halfway point with Fox (39F) in second, F. Magill (05) in third, Ferree (29) in fourth, and Bernard (15B) in fifth. A caution would slow the pace on lap 12 when a car had trouble in turn two. S. Shelpman (17S) would take the outside on the restart with Fox (39F) to his inside in second, F. Magill (05) in third, Ferree (29) in fourth, and Bernard (15B) in fifth. S. Shelpman (17S) continued to dominate the event when the field returned to green-flag conditions and he would begin to lap the field on lap 17. S. Shelpman (17S) would go the distance and pick up another PPMS victory. Following him to the line was Fox (39F) in second, Ferree (29) in third, F. Magill (05) in fourth, Bernard (15B) in fifth, Cody Koteles (1K) in sixth, Kovacs (221K) in seventh, K. McManus (00K) in eighth, Robert Betz (22) in ninth, and John Cain (06) would complete the top 10. The heat race winners were Fox (39F) and S. Shelpman (17S).

“Double money” feature number would be for the Four Cylinders and Susie Rudolph (55), from Steubenville, Ohio, would start on the pole. Bill Tennant (2) would start to her outside in second, Chris Knight (78) would start in third, Jay Swager Jr. (13J) would start in fourth, Kyle Janas (88) would start in fifth, and April Tennant (95) would complete the top three starting rows. When the green flag dropped, B. Tennant (2) would take the lead by lap two while eighth-starting Phillip Bubeck (2L) was already behind him in second, Swager Jr. (12J) was in third, A. Tennant (95) in fourth, and Rudolph (55) in fifth. At the halfway point, B. Tennant (2) and P. Bubeck (2L) continued to run one and two respectively. On lap seven, the duo would begin to lap the nine-car field but on lap nine, the caution would come out for a car that spun out in turn four. A two-lap shootout would ensue with B. Tennant (2) leading the charge. B. Tennant (2) would lead the remaining two laps, en route to another PPMS victory. He was followed to the line by P. Bubeck (2L) in second, A. Tennant (95) in third, Swager Jr. (13J) in fourth, Rudolph (55) in fifth, Janas (88) in sixth, Chris Knight (78) in seventh, Eric Reynolds (53) in eighth, and Chad Brandt (516) would round out the nine-car field. The heat race winners were P. Bubeck (2L) and B. Tennant (2).

In the Young Guns six-lap feature, Cameron Hollister (44), from McDonald, would be the pole-sitter. Cameron Lambert (223), from Mars, would start in second, Dylan Clipp (69), from Burgettstown, would start in third, and Noah Bubeck (2), from Washington, would complete the four-car field. When the green flag waved, N. Bubeck (2) had the lead by the end of lap one with Hollister (44) in second, Clipp (69) in third, and C. Lambert (223) in fourth. By lap two, N. Bubeck (2) had a full straightaway lead and he would continue to dominate the Young Guns division, picking up win number five in a row, which dates back to the Pittsburgher 100 weekend last season. He was followed to the line by Hollister (44) in second, Clipp (69) in third, and C. Lambert (223) in fourth. The Young Guns did not run a heat race.
