2024 Purse Increases Reflect Commitment to Competitors

For Immediate Release
February 6, 2024

Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway is proud to announce significant purse increases ahead of the upcoming 2024 racing season. Weekly “Action Event” competitors will see an increase in excess of 25% to the full weekly program purse, totaling just over $30,000 throughout the course of the 31 race season. The increased amounts have been strategically distributed amongst the speedways’ four paid divisions in an effort to help offset the inflating costs of motorsports over the past several years.

The Rohrich Automotive/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Models will return as the premier division at the speedway. Each weekly event will now pay $725 to win, with $3,400 committed to the weekly purse. The Penn Ohio Pro Stocks will now climb to $350 to win, with $2,060 distributed throughout the starting field. PPMS will remain committed to running the Pro Stocks as a weekly division in addition to two Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series events in 2024. The Fuel Required Hobby Stocks will receive their flowers as one of the most entertaining divisions week in and week out. Hobby Stock teams will now compete for $175 to win, with $1,510 spread throughout the field. Last, but not least, the Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinders will jump to $125 to win and $1,075 committed to each weekly program.

In total, over $180,000 has been added to the overall purse in 2024 with special events factored in. Starting with established special events, the 36th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Pittsburgher 100 Weekend presented by Big River Steel has already been announced as $50,000 to win on Saturday, October 5th, with over $80,000 in purse increase committed to the entire weekend. Falconi’s Moon Township Automotive winged 410 Sprint Car shows will see increased purses for each of their four respective events, with two $4,000 to win FAST on DIRT Series events, the Schaeffer's Specialized Lubricants Western PA Speedweek show on Thursday, May 30th, and the unsanctioned Saturday, July 13th show that will pay $2,000 to win with a total purse of $11,500. The annual RUSH Late Model Touring Series Herb Scott Memorial will now pay $4,000 to win, with a total purse increase of nearly $2,800 for the event.

New special events featuring series such as the ULMS Racing Series, SCDRA Northeast Sport Compacts, UEMS Racing Series, BRP Modified Tour and the unsanctioned Super Late Models will also largely contribute to the overall growth in purse money and overall quality of schedule.

“We want to make it clear to the competitors and our spectators that it is our goal to provide an exceptional racing program week in and week out,” states owner Blair Cress Jr. Blair continues, “Adding to the purse in 2024 is one way of showing our commitment to the people who have continually supported the speedway. The decisions to make these increases weren’t necessarily easy to make with the current state of motorsports expenses in mind. However, we felt that they were necessary. We will continue to build upon these improvements and build PPMS (Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway) into the top-tier entertainment facility that it deserves to be.”

These increases have been made possible in large part due to the generosity of marketing partners at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway (PPMS). Marketing partners/sponsors can be viewed at ppms.com/sponsors. PPMS asks that you support those who support local, grassroots racing whenever possible.
