Full Write Up Results For 6.1.24 | RUSH Mods + Action Event - Champs Night

(Imperial, PA, 6.3.24)
Fresh off of Western PA Sprint Speedweek on Thursday night, the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds would headline an Action Event for Champions Night on Saturday evening at Dirt’s Monster Half Mile. PPMS would honor their 2023 track champions with a ceremony on the front stretch after nine heat races through six divisions, and six feature events.

Chelsie Gallagher (10), from Ellwood City, would dominate the RUSH Sportsman Modified 15-lap feature and go on to pick up her first PPMS win since 2021. Brandon Burgoon (60), from McDonald, would get his first win of 2024 in the 20-lap Rohrich Auto/Chevy Performance RUSH Late Model feature while Christian Schneider (56), from Pittsburgh, would win the Pittsburgh Trucking Center Pro Stock 15-lap feature. Logan Koteles (64K), from Stockdale, would pick up the win in the Fuel Required Hobby Stock 15-lap main event after Leroy Brown (40B) was DQed for violating the camber rule. Tyler Hollister (69), from McDonald, would get another win in the Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder feature, and Gavin Kokolis (91), from Oakdale, would take advantage of a last-lap caution to steal a win in the Always Safe Flagging And Traffic Control Young Guns feature.

In the RUSH Sportsman Modified 15-lap feature, Gallagher (10) would start on the pole with Karston King (165K) flanked to her outside starting in second. Kole Holden (2), from Tiona, would start third, and Jacob Jordan (28J), from Aliquippa, would complete the second starting row. At the start of the event, Gallagher (10) would claim the early lead with Holden (2) in tow. Lap five had Gallagher (10), and Holden (2) holding down the front of the pack as Karston (165K) held down third and Jordan (28J) held down fourth. Jordan (28J) would take third away from Karston (165K) on lap six, as Karston (165K) began to fade. With four laps remaining in the event, Gallagher (10) had a commanding half of a straight-away lead, and she would go on to pick up the win. Holden (2) finished second, Jordan (28J) third, Karston (165K) fourth, Lucas Canon (2LC) fifth, and Brayden Beatty (B4) would round out the six-car field. The heat race winner was Holden (2).

17 Rohrich Auto/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Models were on hand on Saturday evening with Dan Lepro (2L), from Midway, starting on the pole for their 20-lap main event. To his outside and starting second was Jake Gunn (14G), from McDonald. The second starting row consisted of Brian Huchko (60H) starting third, and Burgoon (60) starting fourth. When the green flag waved, J. Gunn (14G) would come away with the early lead. Lap four had J. Gunn (14G) led the charge while Burgoon (60) was holding down second, Huchko (60H) third, Lepro (2L) fourth, and Tommhy Schirnhofer (8S) fifth. Burgoon (60) would begin to put pressure on the leader J. Gunn (14G), and on the next lap, he would take over the lead by the end of it. Just as Burgoon (60) hit lapped traffic on lap nine, the event’s first caution would slow the pace for a car in the wall in turn two. As the field was pacing under yellow, the 14G of Jake Gunn would stop near the flag stand on the front stretch with a fire under the hood of his car. The fire was quickly extinguished and everybody was ok, but J. Gunn (14G) was forced to retire to the pits. Burgoon (60) would choose the outside on the restart with Huchko (60H) to his inside. When green replaced yellow, Burgoon (60) would retain his lead over the field while Huchko (60H) followed him into second, Zach Gunn (17G) was in third, Colby Beighey (36) was in fourth, and Daryl Charlier (42) was in fifth. By lap 13, Burgoon (60) had padded his lead to almost a full straightaway. He would lead the remaining laps of the event and go on to pick up another Rohrich Auto/Chevrolet Performance RUSH Late Model win. Huchko (60H) finished second, Z. Gunn (17G) finished third, Ben Policz (14B) finished fourth, and Charlier (42) rounded out the top five. The heat race winners were Ben Policz (14B) and Jake Gunn (14G).

The Pittsburgh Trucking Center Pro Stock 15-lap feature was up next and had Christian Schneider (56) starting on the pole. Flanked to his outside was Larry Kugel (0). The second starting row had Daryl Charlier (74) starting in third, and Nick Kocuba (10) starting fourth. When the green flag waved, Schneider (56) would take off with the early lead and as he was leading through lap six, Kocuba (10) was holding down second, and Charlier (74) third. By lap nine, Schneider (56) had built a half of a straight-away lead against his competitors, but the event’s first caution would slow the pace and force a rerack of the field. Schneider (56) would choose the inside on the restart which put Kocuba (10) to his outside. When green replaced yellow, the field wouldn’t even make it through turn one before the caution was out again for the 1K of Cody Koteles and Stephen Shelpman (17S) who got tangled up and both backed it into the outside wall in turn one as they were spinning. On the restart, Schneider (56) would continue his domination over the field and retain his lead. He would lead the remaining laps of the event and go on to pick up his second win in two nights, as he won at Lernerville on Friday night. He was followed to the line by Kocuba (10) in second, Dale Tuche (310) in third, Charlier (74) in fourth, and Jackson Billyk (5) would complete the top five. The heat race winners were Dale Tuche (310) and Nick Kocuba (10).

Leroy Brown (40B) would start on the pole in the Fuel Required Hobby Stock 15-lap feature while Matt Benard (15) started to his outside in second. Gary Koteles (65K) and Joe Brown Jr (48) would start third and fourth respectively. At the start of the event, L. Brown (40B) would take off with the early lead while Benard (15) settled into second, and G. Koteles (65K) settled into third. By lap six, L. Brown (40B) already had a half of a straight-away lead over the field. As he was leading lap nine, Benard (15) was still in second, and J. Brown Jr (48) was now in third. With five to go, L. Brown (40B) had extended his lead to a full straight away on lap 10. A car spun in turn three which brought out the yellow flag on lap 11. L. Brown (40B) would lead the restart which allowed him to hold onto his lead. With two to go, eighth-starting Logan Koteles (64K) would find his way into second place but it wasn’t going to be enough to catch L. Brown (40B) who appeared to pick up his first career win. However, during post-race inspection, it was determined that he violated the camber rule and was DQed which gave the win to L. Koteles (64K). Jonathan Koteles (2K) finished second, J. Brown Jr (48) third, Joe Brown Sr (74) fourth, and G. Koteles (65K) rounded out the top five. The heat race winners were Logan Koteles (64K) and Leroy Brown (40B).

Next up was the Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder feature and when the green flag waved, the field would go four-wide down the front stretch and Tyler Hollister (69) would come away with the early lead. With T. Hollister (69) still leading on lap seven, John Gill (19G) was in second, and Matt Knight (71) in third. The event’s only caution would come on that same lap seven for a car that spun out in turn two. T. Hollister (69) would take the outside on the restart and when green replaced yellow, he would keep his over the field. T. Hollister (69) would lead the remaining laps of the event and go on to pick up another Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder win. Following him to the line was Gill (19G) in second, Knight (71) in third, Cameron Hollister (44) in fourth, and Jacob Chipps (38C) would round out the top five. The heat race winner was Jacob Chipps (38C).

Last but not least was the All Ways Safe Flagging and Traffic Control Young Guns 12-lap feature and Anthony Uddstrome (18) would be your pole sitter with Hunter Vohn (124) starting to his outside in second. Anthony Manganello (50) would start in third, and Gavin Kokolis (91) would start in fourth. When the green flag waved, Uddstrome (18) would come away with the early lead. Only one lap into the event, the caution was out for a car that spun in turn two. Uddstrome (18) would retain his lead over the field when green replaced yellow. However, lap three saw another caution for Evan Strouse (54) and Sadie Snatchko (56) who got tangled up on the exit of turn four. Uddstrome (18) would choose the outside on the restart, but race officials would call a no-start for Manganello (50) jumping the start. When green finally replaced yellow, Uddstrome (18) would keep his lead with Manganello (50) in tow, and Kokolis (91) in third. On lap six, Manganello (50) would take over the lead as he was sticking to the high side of the track, and on the same lap, Kokolis (91) would take over second place. As the field took the white flag, Nathan Olenik (99) stopped under the flag stand due to a right front flat tire which brought out the caution. A two-lap shootout would ensue and Manganello (50) chose the outside on the restart When the green flag waved for the final time in the event, Kokolis (91) stole the lead at the line as they took the white flag. Kokolis (91) would lead the final lap and go on to pick up another All Ways Safe Flagging and Traffic Control Young Guns win. Manganello (50) would settle for second, Uddstrome (18) third, Vohn (124) fourth, and Zoey Knight (78Z) would complete the top five. The heat race winner was Udderstrome (18).
