Full Write Up Results For 6.15.24 | Round 1 SWJ Triple Crown
Imperial, PA (6.16.24)
Round one of the Stephen W Johnson Triple Crown for the Fuel Required Hobby Stocks took place at Dirt’s Monster Half Mile on Saturday evening and Leroy Brown (40B), from Aliquippa, would win round one as he scored his first career victory. JC Boyer (12), from Burghill, Ohio, won the RUSH Sportsman Modified feature while Brandon Burgoon (60), from McDonald, picked up another win in the Rohrich Automotive/Chevy Performance RUSH Late Model feature. AJ Poljack (36), from Baldwin, got the win for the Pittsburgh Trucking Center Penn Ohio Pro Stocks while Jacob Chipps (38C), from New Cumberland, West Virginia, got another win for the Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinders, and AJ Manganello (50), from Baden, got his second win in a row for the All Ways Safe Flagging And Traffic Control Young Guns.PPMS saw qualifying, 10 heat races, and six feature events.
13 Fuel Required Hobby Stocks would battle it out for round one of the Stephen W Johnson Triple Crown. Logan Koteles (64K), from Stockdale, would start on the pole for their 15-lap main event. L. Brown (40B) would start to his outside in second. The second row consisted of Tom Anton (64), from Jefferson Hills, who would start third, and Jonathan Koteles (2K), from Stockdale, who would start fourth. When the green flag dropped at the start of the event, L. Brown (40B) would take the early lead. Lap five had L. Brown (40B) still leading, J. Koteles (2K) in second, and Stephen Shelpman (25) in third. Eventually, L. Brown (40B) would enter lapped traffic and with the race going from green to checkered in record fashion, L. Brown (40B) would lead all laps of the event and go on to pick up his first official career win. He was followed by J. Koteles (2K) in second, Shelpman (25) in third, Matt Benard (15) in fourth, and Anton (64) rounded out the top five. The heat race winners were L. Koteles (64K) and Shelpman (25).
In the RUSH Sportsman Modified 15-lap feature, JC Boyer (12) would start on the pole. Starting to his outside in second was Karston King (165K), from Bristolville, Ohio. At the start of the event, Boyer (12) would take the early lead with King (165K) in tow. With each passing lap, Boyer (12) increased his lead over the field, and without any cautions, the race was over in record fashion with Boyer (12) picking up the win. Kole Holden (2), from Tiona, finished second, King (165K) finished third, Logen Lockhart (58), from Seneca, finished fourth, and Brayden Beatty (B4), from Butler, rounded out the top five. The heat race winner was Holden (2).
Daryl Charlier (42), from Midway, would start on the pole in the 20-lap Rohrich Automotive/Chevy Performance RUSH Late model feature. Starting to his outside in second was Cole Petrelle (184), from Follansbee, West Virginia. The second row consisted of Cody Koteles (5X), from Stockdale, starting third, and Burgoon (60) started in fourth. When the green flag dropped at the start of the event, Charlier (42) and Petrelle (184) would battle side-by-side for the lead. Charlier (42) would have the lead by lap two.The event’s first caution came on lap six for a car that spun out in turn four. Charlier (42) would lead the restart, but Burgoon (60) would take over the lead when green replaced yellow. Burgoon (60) would lead the remaining laps in the event and go on to pick up another Rohrich Automotive/Chevy Performance RUSH Late Model win. Mike Reft (9R), finished second, Ben Policz (14B) finished third, Tim Shaffer (45) finished fourth, and Kassidy Kamicker (72B) rounded out the top five. The heat race winners were Burgoon (60) and Policz (14B).
In the Pittsburgh Trucking Center Penn Ohio Pro Stock 15-lap feature, Nick Kocuba (10), from Burgettstown, started on the pole. Starting to his outside in second was Tony Magill (M5), from Jefferson Hills. Row two had Jackson Billyk (5), from New Castle, starting third, and Stephen Shelpman (17S) starting fourth. When the green flag waved, Kocuba (10) would take the early lead. A pair of cautions would slow the pace on both laps one and two, and when green replaced yellow, Poljack (36) would take over the lead. Poljak (36) would lead the remaining laps in the event and go on to pick up another Pittsburgh Trucking Center Penn Ohio Pro Stock win. He was followed by Dale Tuche (310) in second, Kocuba (10) third, Magill (M5) in fourth, and J. Billyk (5) rounded out the top five. The heat race winners were Poljak (36) and Tuche (310).
Hunter Vohn (124), from Industry, started on the pole in the All Ways Safe Flagging and Traffic Control Young Guns 10-lap feature. Anthony Udderstrom (18), from Pittsburgh, started to his outside in second. The second row had Manganello (50) starting third and Gavin Kokolis (91), from Oakdale, started fourth. When the green flag waved, Udderstrom (18) took the early lead with Manganello (50) and Vohn (124) battling side-by-side for second. Vohn (124) would take over second on lap two and then take over the lead on lap three. Vohn (124) would take the white flag with Manganello (50) in tow. However, on the last lap, Manganello (50) made his move on Vohn (124) to pick up his second win in a row. Vohn (124) finished second, Udderstrom (18) finished third, Kokolis (91) finished fourth, and Zoey Knight (78Z) rounded out the top five. The heat race winner was Manganello (50).
Last but not least was the 12-lap Crawford Auto Repair Open Four Cylinder Feature and Tyler Hollister (69), from Burgettstown, would start on the pole. Starting to his outside in second was Jacob Chipps (38C). The second row consisted of Cameron Hollister (44), from Burgettstown, starting in fourth, and Derik Quigley (65Q), from Roscoe, starting in fourth. When the green flag dropped at the start of the event, Chipps (38C) would take the early lead with T. Hollister (69) in tow. The event’s lone caution would come with two laps remaining in the event, and Chipps (38C) would keep his lead over the field when green replaced yellow. He would lead the remaining two laps in the event and go on to pick up the win. He was followed by T. Hollister (69) in second, C. Hollister (44) finished third, Quigley (65Q) finished fourth, and Tifani McElhose (24) rounded out the top five. The heat race winners were Chipps (38C) and Quigley (65Q).
